Yorkshire-bound writer, Josh Oldridge, asked me to craft an exquisite, visually arresting cover design for his debut COVID-era romance-comedy novel, Love In A Lost Year.

Laden with themes of loneliness, a longing for connection or companionship, mental illness and life within an ever-growing reclusive society, I wanted my design to reflect all of these in a single delicate, striking image.
Opting for soft pencil sketches, the four hands aim to communicate the longing for connection in a time when it was near impossible to achieve. The overlapping ‘touching but not touching’ hands show the superficial or ‘empty’ excuse for connection we’re forced to accept because of social media or our own mental health.
