Multi-award-winning production company, Suzo Animation approached me to create the official logo and accompanying material for their 2020 stop-motion animated short, Out With The Old. The story follows a wooden doll who is left behind when his family moves house. He treks through the world to get back to his dollhouse, but trails a clingy stuffed elephant.
When discussing the film’s key inspirations, the director mentioned he was heavily influenced by classic British stop motion animator, Oliver Postgate - creator of Bagpuss and The Clangers. He wanted the logo to pay homage to these 70s animated classics as well as other nostalgic TV shows and story books from the 50s and 60s which characteristically adopt heavy serifs and varying text sizes.
